Spoilers about Alex and Platina:

Even though the two princes are rumored to be the "successor(s)" of the King of Naraku, Alex and Platina are actually created under the command of Seles to serve as "new bodies" for himself and "kami-sama" ("God").

Because Seles' angel body has weaken from his fall from Heaven, he needed a powerful demon body to replace it - hence, Alex. If you wonder why Alex looks similar to Seles in face, why they both are around the same height, why Alex is strength-in-mind-wise stronger than Platina, this is the reason. Also, Seles had long golden hair like Alex before he was tainted by the Abyss.

Platina on the other hand was born to be the new body for kami-sama's soul (please read Seles' story about kami-sama), and accordingly, kami-sama has long beautiful silver hair and a tamed spirit - thus, Platina was created to be like that as well. While stronger in power, his body is weaker, and Seles will be able to have more control.

The only reason why Seles lead them believing that they were to fight the "Battle of Succession" is so that they are able to be strong enough to fight all Guardians of the Elemental Shrines to break the Seal. Technically, after the release, Alex and Platina would be of no use for Seles except their demon bodies.

To me, it seems like their relationship is very gentle, and only the two of them can fully understand each other. In the beginning they are curious of each other, and while accepting the fate of the Battle, they did not want to fight deep inside. After the Battle, and after the Betrayal of the staff officers, they have the chance of talking to each other and soon building respect among each other. It is cute, Platina has this sort of teasing yet submissive attitude toward Alex, and Alex has a kind yet "I am older brother" attitude toward Platina.
