Note: Please respect my review, as it is partial rant and all opinions.
There is no right or wrong when it comes to opinionating. If I said anything
that offended you, I apologize, and if you disagree with anything, I respect
that. Therefore, I ask for the same.
Honestly, if I wasn't such a big A/0 fan, I would not dedicate myself so much
on this site. The game is breathtaking and unforgetably fun! The characters
are all lovable and well portraited in the game with some *amazing* talented
voice acting. When they are supposed to be excited or flustered, sad or happy,
joking or serious, the VA s show it all. I loved hearing their voices over
and over again.
The graphics and scenarios are brilliant and colorful, beautiful to the eyes. I was marveled at the artwork the first time I ever saw Apocripha, smooth and CGed. Even though there were not many movies, the dialogues and the picture are just as great, and the difference expressions.. very kawaii. And of course, I cannot forget about all the beautiful characters... extremely pretty young men that one will fall in love with at first sight (I did at least). Even Suzuki Chihiro (Platina's seiyuu) commented that all the characters in the game are very pretty. I find it rather amazing how there are alternate endings to the game, and depending on how you choose your answers, you get different endings with different people! Although, it is typical in PC simulation games. But as beautiful the drawings are, there are also some bloody and dramatic scenes. The story is unique, complex but relatively easy to understand. Every little detail that is provided leads to a bigger plot, and every character has their own stories to tell. The music is a big plus as well, because they're just too pretty to listen too... *melts* Very ethereal and apocriphic (made that one up), and they all suit the parts they tune in.
There are two versions of the game: Alex and Platina disks.
The Alex disk is by chance more for sugary and kawaiiness of a storyline,
since it's Alex-sama we're talking about here. The Platina disk is more serious,
but it is more of BL service because Platina-sama is supposed to appear more
mature, if you get my drift... either way, depending on which disk you're
playing, you really get sucked into being that character and feeling
connected to the other characters. So when there's a betrayal, I was so shocked
that I literally couldn't sleep.
And even if you are not comfortable with BoyxBoy material, this game is very
mild and balanced, so you don't have to worry. And IF you are a fan of BoyxBoy,
still.. there is enough cuteness and blushes and hugs to show you ^___^ Some
would even wonder why was Apocripha/0 part of the Boy's Love category if there's
not even kissing? But shounen-ai is implied in the game, and besides,
since it's so leniant on the characters, *many* couplings can be made! The
CGs themselves are worth enough for Apo/0. I think, even without the hardcore
yaoi scenes, one could find enough fan service on it. But if you are collecting
only hardcore games, I'm afraid A/0 isn't one of them.
Apocripha/0 definitely caught my heart, and it's highly recommended for all BL fans ^_^
